Neal French
Neal French is a figurative sculptor, trained at the Royal College of Art, who is primarily a modeller working in a range of materials. He works to commission on public and private sculpture, including portrait work, alongside the development of his own sculptural ideas and themes. He is a Fellow of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and a Council member of the Society of Portrait Sculptors. He exhibits widely in solo and group exhibitions and his work is in both public and private collections in this country and abroad.
On leaving the Royal College of Art, Neal worked successfully for fifteen years as a designer, modeller and sculptor for Spode and Worcester Royal Porcelain Company Limited. This was followed by twenty years of teaching at Hornsey College of Art/Middlesex University, where he became Emeritus Professor. At this time, Neal began his continuing connection with Rye Pottery as freelance modeller.
Since leaving education he has worked as a sculptor, producing press-moulded stoneware figures, portrait heads and life size sculpture in a variety of materials, chosen to suit the scale or placing of the finished piece. Neal French lives and works in Norfolk.
