Friday 12th - Sunday 18th November 2010 Paintings and prints by Pamela Scott-Wilkie Pamela Scott Wilkie's work is in private collections in the UK and many parts of the world and in numerous public collections including the V&A and The Rijksmuseum, the Netherlands. She was born in London and originally studied Fine Art with a former student of W. R. Sickert. Interpreting experience through drawing and colour is a common thread which links her paintings, drawings, prints and artist's books. She is particularly interested in exploring memories of poetic moments when time seems to have been suspended. Vanessa Pooley is a sculptor living and working in Norwich, the city in which she studied at the School of Art. Her individualistic sculptures have been described as being ‘plumply at rest within their own bodies’. Her simple forms of curvaceous women, sometimes incorporating figures of children, are immensely sensual and tactile and have immediate appeal. Working in clay, then cast in bronze the figures develop strong characters of their own through sculptural process and surface treatment. |
